A Legacy of Firsts in Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC) Research

In 2019, Frank and Barbara Resnek made a generous gift to the Brigham to establish the Resnek Family Center for Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC) Research—the first and the only center of its kind in the world. PSC is a rare, chronic liver disease that disrupts normal liver function and can lead to cirrhosis and, eventually, liver failure. There are currently no effective treatments or a cure, and people with PSC often need a liver transplant.

After their grandson was diagnosed with PSC, the Resneks began a worldwide search for institutions best positioned to accelerate PSC research which led them to the Brigham and gastroenterologist Joshua Korzenik, MD.

The Resnek Family Center brings together scientists from across the Brigham, throughout the Mass General Brigham system, and across the world to better understand and treat PSC and related conditions. It has become an international hub for PSC research.

To further support the future of the Resnek Center, Frank and Barbara generously included the Brigham in their estate plans.

Start your legacy today with a gift in your will or trust and enjoy these benefits:

  • It costs you nothing today with the flexibility to update as needed
  • The potential to reduce taxes
  • Support for the future of medicine
